About me
I am Sarah Sjögren Deeds, eulogist, celebrant and grief companion, musician and ritual designer, a Berliner by choice who grew up by the Baltic Sea coast, and your companion in challenging times.
Like for many others, it was my own experiences of loss and grief that led me to this path. Even as a child, I had a sense that rituals help and offer comfort, and that it is important to turn toward our feelings, even the sad ones.

As a funeral director, I have accompanied people during the “threshold time” between death and burial, and some beyond that.
Designing life celebrations that allow a person to shine is what I love most. I believe that there is comfort in beauty, and that our connections with other people are the greatest treasure we have.
As a celebrant, I pour my heart into the small and large stories that make a life so special.
As a grief companion, my focus lies on the resources we all carry within us, on accepting what is, and on discovering what may also be possible. With creativity, curiosity, time, and space.
For me, death and grief are central themes that will affect everyone at some point. I firmly believe that the world would be a better place if we approached these topics, and one another, with greater openness and mindfulness, and if we consciously looked at even the challenging things.
I am not religious, but I consider myself a spiritual person.
I love long bike rides, live music, and evenings in pubs in good company. In my free time, I play banjo and synthesizer in various bands and stand behind the turntables as a DJ. I have a great passion for collage, which I share with the world in workshops.

How I work
When I support you on your grief journey or in creating a farewell or life celebration, you set the pace. In an initial conversation, I get a sense of where you are and where the journey might lead. From then on, I am by your side, and we walk together. I create a space where everything that is can simply be, without becoming overwhelming.
My task is not to give advice or tell you what to do. I am there to explore with you how grief works. To find ways to express the unspeakable. To simply be there and listen. To sort through, understand, and process your feelings together. As a source of inspiration, a process companion, a shoulder to lean on, a walking partner, a grief expert, an awakener of resources, a pointer toward new perspectives.
I am happy to open my suitcase of creative methods and materials, bringing paper, brushes, scissors, glue, pens, clay, or instruments.
At the center of everything there is always your very personal grief journey. That is why there is no universal roadmap for my support. The only certainty is that we will keep moving together. And create space for new vitality in your life when the time is right.
