Sarah Sjögren Deeds – CV
Hi, I’m Sarah Sjögren Deeds, a grief and farewell guide, eulogist, musician and artist based in Berlin. Originally from the shores of the Baltic, I seek the horizon wherever I go.
Some versions of myself I have laid to rest, that have shaped who I am today:
Cultural Anthropologist (MA University of Kiel)
Museum Educator
Role Playing Nerd
Rebel Clown
Union Organizer
Funeral Director
Community Radio Host
In my artistic and musical practice, I have always been drawn to collage as a technique, to a point where it influences the way I perceive the world on a deep level. Collage can show us unexpected beauty, and provide surprising insights, in the combination of things we might have thought don’t go together. It can create and release tension through juxtapositions. It can release great creative potential because it encourages you to make your own rules and create your own world. In grief support work, collage has proven to be a creative excercise with a low threshhold, and high potential to help unlock imagination and creativity as ressources for coping with grief.
As a celebrant and eulogist, I often use a collage-like way of storytelling because I feel like this captures a life much better and just a linear re-telling of dates.
